Sundays used to feel stressful because I’d think about work starting.
Anxiety Sunday basically.
Then I decided to actually protect Sunday as a self-care day.
Not just a day off where I still stress.
An intentional self-care day.
Everything changed.
Sundays became something I actually looked forward to.
Self-care Sunday: slow morning, movement/yoga, skincare routine, meal prep, journaling, bath/spa, relaxing evening, early bedtime. 4-6 hours total. Protect it from work stress. Make it non-negotiable.
Sunday is your reset day.
You’re resetting for the week ahead.
You’re also processing the week that just happened.
Intentional self-care on Sunday makes the entire week better.
Better sleep. Less anxiety. More resilience.
It’s not selfish. It’s necessary maintenance.

Say no to obligations:
Sunday is protected time. Work can wait. Errands can wait.
Communicate boundaries:
Tell people Sunday is your self-care day.
No work email:
Don’t check it Sunday. It can wait.
Silence notifications:
Silence work Slack, email, everything.
Actual rest:
Not running errands. Not socializing if it stresses you.
Early bedtime:
Non-negotiable. Your body needs sleep.
Yes if it’s relaxing. Not if it’s obligatory or stressful.
Pick a different day as your self-care day. Sunday is just traditional. Use whatever day you have off.
No. Self-care is necessary. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Self-care Sunday looks different. Maybe after kids bedtime. Or part of Sunday. Do what’s possible.
Yes. Do your own routines together. Bath separately, dinner together, whatever works.
Self-care Sunday isn’t about being fancy or expensive.
It’s about protecting time for yourself.
It’s about starting the week rested instead of depleted.
It’s about being intentional about your wellbeing.
That’s it.
Doesn’t require expensive products. Just time and intention.
Self-care Sunday changed my relationship with Sundays.
They went from anxiety-filled to actually restorative.
I look forward to Sundays now.
I start weeks better.
I’m more resilient.
I recommend this to everyone.
