Okay so loungewear used to be just sweatpants and a hoodie basically.
Random comfortable stuff you threw on to be at home.
Now there’s this whole loungewear category that’s like… actually styled and intentional.
Matching sets. Coordinated colors. Pieces that actually look good.
And I’m obsessed because I spend like 50% of my time at home and I want to be comfortable AND feel like I’m wearing real clothes.
Not just literal pajamas. But also not yoga pants and a random shirt.
Something in between that’s comfortable but looks intentional.
SKIMS basically created this category. They made loungewear a whole thing.
And now everyone has loungewear lines because people actually want comfortable matching sets.
Best loungewear: SKIMS for quality (pricey), Amazon for affordable options (cheap), Gap for mid-range. Look for soft natural fabrics, good fit, and colors you’ll actually wear. Matching sets feel more intentional than random comfortable clothes.
Loungewear is basically the clothing equivalent of a good pillow.
You spend hours in it. It should be comfortable.
But it should also make you feel like you’re wearing real clothes not just pajamas.
There’s something psychological about wearing an intentional outfit (even if it’s just loungewear) vs just throwing on random stuff.
You feel more put-together. You feel more capable of actually doing things.
When I’m in loungewear I can still work or go out. When I’m in actual pajamas I’m locked in for the night.
Loungewear is the middle ground that works.
SKIMS basically invented modern loungewear.
Kim Kardashian’s brand and they focused on comfort, fit, and style.
Their loungewear sets are like €60-120 per set depending on the piece.
Quality is genuinely good. The fabrics are soft. The fit is flattering. The colors are curated.
They look expensive because they’re well-made.
I have several SKIMS pieces and they’re my favorite loungewear because they actually look nice.
The downside: expensive. Not budget-friendly.
Also they sell out. Popular items go fast.
But honestly if you can afford SKIMS loungewear, it’s worth it because you’ll actually wear them.
Amazon has tons of loungewear options (€20-50 per set).
Quality varies but there are solid options if you sort through them.
Brands like AUTOMET, PRETTYGARDEN, Amazon Essentials have decent loungewear.
Not as nice as SKIMS but respectable for the price.
If you want to try loungewear without spending money, Amazon is where to start.
Gap has loungewear lines (€40-80 per set) that are actually good quality for the price.

Not as premium as SKIMS but way better quality than cheap Amazon options.
This is the mid-range option I usually recommend because quality-to-price ratio is good.
Aerie is the casual sister brand of American Eagle and their loungewear is great.
Soft fabrics. Cute designs. Affordable (€35-75).
They also have good values (ethical production, size inclusivity, no retouching in ads).
If you care about brand values, Aerie is worth supporting.
Fabric quality: Soft. Natural materials (cotton, linen, modal) better than synthetic.
Fit: Should fit true to size. Not too baggy. Not too tight.
Color: Neutral colors you’ll actually wear. Not weird colors you thought were cute but don’t actually like.
Matching sets: Two-piece sets (top and bottom) that coordinate so you can wear them together or separately.
Look intentional: Not pajamas. Not gym clothes. Actual loungewear that looks styled.

3-4 sets in coordinating colors is enough to have options and be able to wash everything.
No. Loungewear is designed to be worn during the day and look intentional. Pajamas are for sleeping. Loungewear is for being at home while still feeling like you’re wearing real clothes.
Depends on the loungewear. Some looks too pajama-y. Some is styled enough to wear to coffee or running errands. SKIMS loungewear can be worn out. Amazon loungewear is more pajama-adjacent.
